Man Who Killed Ex-Fiancée After She Called Off Engagement Charged with First-Degree Murder

Timothy Hyder, a 58-year-old man, shot and killed his ex-fiancée, Natalie “Dawn” Du’Mee, after she called off their engagement. According to reports, the couple had been together for approximately three years before the tragic event occurred.
On the fateful night, Hyder and Du’Mee attended a party where she informed him that she no longer intended to marry him.
Upon returning home, she handed back the engagement ring and reiterated her stance.
Hyder retrieved a gun from a closet and confronted Du’Mee, asking if she was serious about not marrying him. Moments later, he allegedly shot her in the head.
Du’Mee’s daughter, who was upstairs watching a movie, witnessed the events unfold.
She claimed that Hyder confessed to killing her mother after the incident, saying, “It’s over, I blew her brains out.” He then instructed her to call 911.
When officers arrived at the scene on December 1, they found Du’Mee sitting on the back porch with a gunshot wound on the right side of her head. A handgun was discovered openly on the kitchen counter. Hyder admitted to the crime, expressing remorse for his actions. “He wished he could take back what occurred and that he snapped,” officers reported.
Hyder has been charged with first-degree murder and was taken into custody on Sunday, December 1.
It is currently unknown if he has legal representation or entered a plea.
St. Cloud Police Chief Douglas Goerke expressed condolences in a statement, saying, “Our hearts go out to the victim and her loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time.” The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the devastating consequences of domestic violence.
