Twitter which has a new boss and it’s advertisers are taking a step back from any sort of ad campaign on the micro blogging platform till they see what new direction Twitter’s CEO or ‘Chief tweet’ Elon Musk will take.
Elon has publicly spoken in the past about how he wanted Twitter to be a platform for free speech but what version of free speech he champions is unclear as he has barely had a 2 week run in his new acquisition.
Twitter’s revenue is mostly from advertising as it makes up 90% of it’s revenue according to it’s Q2 earnings report for 2022. Musk plans to meet with advertising executives sometime this week but till then advertising firms are pausing all ads for the next week till further notice.
Musk also said that he will not allow previously banned twitter users on the platform for the next three weeks. Elon said in a previous tweet which he posted on wednesday saying;
“Twitter’s content moderation council will include representatives with widely divergent views, which will certainly include the civil rights community and groups who face hate-fueled violence.”
