Operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) successfully apprehended a 41-year-old notorious kidnapper and armed robber, Godstime Ajugba. The arrest, which took place in Mosogar community, Ethiope-West Local Government Area, unfolded around 3:30 pm on November 18, 2024.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a statement.
He disclosed that Ajugba and his gang were involved in a string of criminal activities, including kidnapping, armed robbery, car theft, and defrauding unsuspecting individuals through ATM card swaps across major towns like Ughelli, Warri, Sapele, Oghara, Abraka, and surrounding areas.
“Ajugba has been a menace in the region,” Edafe stated.
“He was apprehended at his residence along Wellington Road in Mosogar, marking the end of a dangerous chapter for the community.”
Under intense interrogation, the suspect revealed critical information about his gang’s operations, leading the police to their primary hideout in an area referred to as ‘Small Pastor Area.’ This location, according to investigators, was frequently used to detain kidnapped victims.
Some items were recovered after a thorough search of the premises.
The items recovered included two AK-47 rifles, one K2 rifle, two automatic pump-action guns, a locally made cut-to-size gun, five AK-47 magazines, three K2 magazines, 101 live rounds of K2 rifle ammunition, two pairs of handcuffs, and ten live cartridges.
Speaking further, SP Edafe noted, “This arrest is a clear indication of the Delta State Police Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the region. Criminal elements should consider this a warning. We will not relent in our efforts to rid the state of crime.”
