Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, representing Ebonyi North senatorial zone, has taken proactive measures to combat the cholera outbreak in his constituency.
In an interview with Blueprint, he revealed that he has allocated N120 million for the installation of motorized boreholes in strategic locations within the district. This is meant to provide clean drinking water, a crucial factor in preventing the spread of cholera, a waterborne diseases

In addition to the motorized boreholes, Senator Nwebonyi is also distributing 25 hand-pump boreholes across the senatorial district to ensure that his constituents have access to portable water.
Senator Nwebonyi expressed sympathy for the families affected by the cholera outbreak and urged his constituents to take precautionary measures to prevent further spread of the disease.
He also revealed that he has contacted the Ministry of Health for intervention and will be providing drugs to immunize the people against cholera.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cholera is a deadly bacterial disease that causes severe watery diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration and even death if left untreated.
