Federal Government Declares Monday a Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid

The Federal Government has announced that Monday, September 16, 2024, will be a public holiday to commemorate the Islamic festival of Eid-ul-Mawlid, which marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, extending congratulations to the Muslim community both in Nigeria and around the world on this occasion.
In a statement released on Friday, Permanent Secretary Dr. Magdalene Ajani quoted Dr. Tunji-Ojo as urging Muslims and all Nigerians to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience.
The Minister also encouraged the Muslim community to use this period to pray for lasting peace and a more prosperous and equitable nation.
