The altercation began when the driver requested that Ikwechegh come outside to receive his delivery personally. This request enraged Ikwechegh, who felt disrespected by the driver’s ask. The situation quickly escalated, with Ikwechegh slapping the driver multiple times and verbally abusing him.
In the video, the driver can be heard asking Ikwechegh, “Did you just slap me three times?” to which Ikwechegh responded, “Twice, and you will soon receive the third slap”.
Ikwechegh also threatened the driver, boasting that he could make him “disappear” in Nigeria without facing any consequences.
“I can make you disappear in the whole of Nigeria and nothing will happen. Do you know who I am? I am a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I can lock you up in my Generator House and nothing will happen”.
The driver’s clothes were allegedly torn by Ikwechegh during the assault, as seen in a second video circulating online.
This incident has generated widespread outrage, with many calling for accountability and justice.
Social media users have condemned Ikwechegh’s actions, with one Facebook user, Ogochukwu, expressing disappointment and concern: “This is very disappointing coming from a Lawmaker… Imagine getting this violent because the bolt driver asked you to come to the car and get your package. Imagine what he will do if it’s a very serious offense committed against him”.
Nigerians are calling for accountability and justice.
