The Federal Government, through the National Senior Secondary Education Commission, has announced plans to invest N47.5 billion in upgrading the infrastructure of 50 selected senior secondary schools nationwide.
This initiative is part of the Commission’s mandate to intervene in the education sector.
According to Dr. Iyela Ajayi, Executive Secretary of the Commission, a thorough Needs Assessment (NEEDS) was conducted across the chosen schools to identify areas of improvement.
The upgrade is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to enhance the quality of education in the country.
Dr. Ajayi emphasized that this is just the first phase of the project, with more schools to benefit in subsequent phases.
He urged schools not selected for the initial phase to be patient, assuring them that the Commission would extend the intervention to them after completing the first phase.
The groundbreaking ceremony for one of the selected schools in Koton Karfe, Kogi state, marked the commencement of the project.
The N47.5 billion allocated for the first phase will cover the rehabilitation of 50 schools, addressing the identified gaps and improving the learning environment for students.
