Governor Akeredolu’s demise is a huge loss to the Bar, Bench and entire country – Chief S.T Yenge

HE Governor Akeredolu was a man of principles, an activist of positive thinking, a progressive mind, a fearless political leader and a dogged fighter of just causes.

My first encounter with Governor Akeredolu SAN was between 2011 and 2012 at the Supreme Court when he was prosecuting the governorship election petition emanating from Benue state.

I was not from his legal team but I was overwhelmed by his dedication and absolute commitment to the pursuit of his case.

His doggedness and fearlessness at the apex court in an apparently hopelessly situation was unprecedented.

I started relating directly with HE Akeredolu SAN between 2014 and 2015 when he was the National Legal Adviser of the APC as his volunteered research assistant.

I noticed that all my opinions supported by law were implemented by the APC which I sent to Akeredolu SAN.

Akeredolu was a father, very simple and attended to his text messages even as a governor. He always find time to reply his email and text messages unlike other political and highly placed individuals in Nigeria.

One thing I love most about HE Akeredolu SAN is that he loves God and believes so much in Him. Like in his last victory at the apex court when I sent him a congratulatory message, part of his response which I could not forget was that ” ….It could only be God”.I have no doubt that he is now in heaven at the expense of the world.

HE Akeredolu, a senior Advocate of Nigeria,a live bencher and a former NBA President is no doubt a huge loss to the bar, bench and the entire country and most particularly his immediate family and the good people of Ondo State.

My sincere condolence to President B.A Tinubu GCFR, the APC, the NGF, the NBA, the good people of Ondo Sate, his associates and friends and to his dearest family.

May the gentle soul of HE Governor Rotimi Akeredolu SAN and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

Chief S.T Yenge & family write from Abuja.
