ARCON has just asked Meta formerly Facebook to pay the sum of $70M the equivalent of N30B on the conversation rate on when this article was written.
The advertising regulatory council of Nigeria (ARCON) made claims that any advert made by Meta directed to it’s citizens (Nigerians) without the consent of the approved body e.g ARCON is exploitation and is considered a direct loss to the nation.
There has been no response from Meta yet as one might argue about this breech of advertising law or “exploitation” which has been going on for years without ARCON doing anything about it, so why the sudden change now?
Nigeria who had recently been in a short battle with Twitter recently after a tweet from the President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari got him suspended from the platform is on another campaign, but how Meta would respond is unknown.
