Meta, Facebook’s parent company has warmed a million of its Facebook users that there are about 400 apps that could be harmful to use. These apps can redirect a user to type in their Facebook account login details and the user’s data will be used for negative purposes.
These apps are not subjected to only for Android but for apple users as well.
Meta’s director of Threat Disruption, David Agranovich had this to say;
“The reality is a lot of these scams don’t start and end on one platform,” Agranovich said. “To avoid detection, threat actors will often carry their activity across different sites, which makes cross industry collaboration like this all the more critical.”
Meta’s team have identified these harmful apps and with cooperation from both Google and Android, about 350 apps have been removed so far.
Meta was gracious enough to release a list of more than 400 malicious apps so users can check to see if they have downloaded any of them.
